I’ve tried a few different brands of coated strings before and these have a fantastic feel to them when you play, my last set of strings were the Daddario NYXL but they didn’t feel quite as springy and responsive as these.

The Elixir Nanoweb would be my dream set of strings but for one problem – they keep snapping at the bridge. I’ve got an Ibanez locking tremolo system (not sure which model) and for some reason these strings don’t like it. All of the strings have snapped bar the bass E and A. I don’t even go wild with the whammy bar either, the last time I was just pulling up a semi tone on the bar and both the D and the B popped at the same time, I reckon that the D went first which increased the load on the other strings so the B snapped a millisecond or so after.

It’s a really frustrating problem that I haven’t had with other strings, because I’ve got a locking trem I can just snip the ends and string the guitar back up again but it’s very sub-ideal. I’m kind of torn as to whether I should give another set a go because they are very nice to play, they don’t rust and they keep their tone for ages.

By the way if you’ve got a floating trem, I switched from the Daddario NYXL 009s to the Elixir Nanoweb 009s, I’ve not checked each string guage but the Nanowebs put a bigger load on the trem so I had to adjust the spring tension to get the trem back in position. I was a bit surprised because the Nanowebs feel a lot ‘lighter’ and sound a bit brighter than the NYXL’s.

Lots of fakes going around but easy way to spot the real stuff is by the white dust they pull off.

I haven’t cleaned my black guitar since i got them, nice thick white blanket to be found.

Sound wise they are excellent, and they are practically maintenance free. I never clean my strings with stuff and these things despite the abuse they get they stay bright sounding, and slinky smooth.

Been using Ernie Ball strings for a while, but they seem to rust quick and collect dirt, even with clean hands, so I was on the lookout for some strings that don’t rust too easy, came across these and gave them a try and boy was I surprised! they sound so much better than i expected, they’re lovely for sliding up and down the fret board too, also, they last for AGES without losing the quality of sound!

if you’re looking for decent sound, decent longevity and a nicer feeling string than the typical wound strings, try these, you wont be disappointed

I used to swear by Elixir strings for my electro acoustic until I got sent some fake ones but decided to try these out on my new electric guitar. I was less than impressed out of the packet, they lacked the visual sparkle you get with a brand new set but once fitted they were quite ok, 2 days later though wear was appearing on the wound strings in the picking area and another couple of days later the top E string broke.

So, less than a week and already problems…the Ernie Ball slinkies they replaced lasted much longer! It’s not me either, no change in practice regime or playing style just a poor quality product considering the claims made and the price.

Elixir/Amazon need to sort out the quality control, the acoustic string fakes are easy to spot (look at the quality of the printed packaging, plus the wear after a few hours) but what about these? A bad batch, bad storage? What?

Can’t send ’em back either it’s not worth the hassle, just scratch it up as a failed experiment and won’t be buying again, I’ll try out the EB Paradigm strings but other than that back to Slinkies and just change them regularly.

Já testei muitas cordas neste 40 anos como guitarrista profissional, Elixir é a melhor tanto na guitarra como no violão folk .
