I have been very impressed with the strings so far. My first time purchasing D’Addario strings at the recommendation by my brother which I must admit was a good call. The strings were nicely sealed and packaged to preserve their life upon my receiving of them. When I first played with the strings I expected there to be a lot of low-end tone without any cleaner tones but I was pleasantly surprised. Not only do these strings capture the low-end with a significant amount of bite, They have a crisp and clear sounding part to them which makes it 100 times easier to solo with them (when your feeling adventurous that is). I can foresee myself using these strings frequently in the future. Definitely a quality product.

Excellent strings; nice tension, good feel and great, well balanced punchy tone. Even the B string sounds crisp and has a nice ‘twang’. A definite improvement over my usual Rotosounds. I highly recommended these strings.

I’ve only had them on a week so as for longevity, we will see. What I will say is the tone is bright but not as ‘new string’ twang as other brands. The playability is good and tonal consistentcy is excellent across all 5 strings. The low B is neither flappy or dull.

This strings are OK. I wouldn’t rave about them as such. I bought them at the behest of the guirast of a Metal band I was playing in, and I suspect it’s because they suited his ideal for a bass sound, rather than mine. The big problem I found with these is the brightness on these fades real quick. I have a preference for Rotosounds and D’Addario didn’t change that.

D’addario EXL170-5 are truly the best there is..
